In this video, we are going to be talking about getting to know the various parts of your loom. I’m going to be taking everything out of the SAORI Self-Innovation Through Free Weaving book (the “purple book.”) This video is not an effort to bypass or replace the book – this book is invaluable, and if you don’t already own it, you should! This is just some extra help in getting to know your loom and a few introductory things about SAORI.

Why a Members Only Area?
During my time in Japan at SAORINOMORI, I’ve had several discussions with Akiko and Kenzo about sharing SAORI techniques over the internet. Their feeling is that the information shared via the internet needs to be done in a way that is respectful to other studios. On the one hand, the internet can be a great platform for sharing information and engaging students. But on the other hand, materials posted by one teacher can keep a student from visiting a studio close to them.
So the compromise has been to put videos and tutorials behind a password-protected wall in a “members only” section of our website. All are welcomed to join, of course! To access our video and PDF tutorials, please log in or sign up below.
